This here presented project is something of a legacy to the games my generation played on our phones when we were younger, games such as Subway Surfers or Temple Run, but stretched on a thin budget which is mostly put into rendering speed, considering how fast you get to go in this one.
The goal in the game is blindingly simple and obvious - never stop running, pick up as much speed and do not stop until a screen saying “TRACK COMPLETED” pops up.
As plain as it might seem, the game easily sucks you in if you have time to kill while waiting for your friends. All the while a catchy soundtracking is repeating and hypnotizing sound effects are being played.
The gameplay is also as straightforward as it gets, thus you would not need a tutorial…However, a training level is provided none the less. You are thrown straight onto the track, everything around you is white void so all you have to focus on is the track itself, pink and purple tiles are there to guide your way around holes. Beside those, there are green arrow tiles which boost your speed, also shown on the speed meter above (this will be your score multiplier at the end of the level, should you reach it), so the goal is to reach the highest speed possible. To stop you in this endeavor there are red arrow tiles which will slow you down as you step onto them. The frontflip jump function, in accord with the blue tiles with a spring on them, will be your best friend in avoiding trouble.
Sky Stick efficiently proves that games do not have to be of a high budget or paid for in order to catch you for a bit of light fun.
